A method for analyzing the power supply to auxiliary on-board equipment of a trolleybus through kinetic energy recuperation

During the passage of a trolleybus powered from the overhead line, momentary power outages occur. They affect adversely the on-board auxiliary components of the vehicle. To limit these negative effects, the energy created by recuperative braking with the traction motor can be used. A model scheme of power supply to trolleybus construction systems has been proposed. A simulation study has been carried out to develop and verify the analysis method of powering the auxiliary equipment on a selected example. Obtained results allow to determine the limiting power that can be generated by the trolleybus powertrain necessary to supply the auxiliary equipment during the passage through the catenary insulator.
