Real driving and simulation investigation of energy consumption of two-wheeled electric vehicles

The paper concerns the problem of energy consumption by two-wheeled vehicles with electric powertrain. A simulation model of the energy consumption by two-wheeled vehicles was developed for enabling the assessment of the design and operation parameters. A simulation model of the energy consumption by two-wheeled vehicles was developed for enabling the assessment influance of ethe design and operation parameters. The measurement results allowed the estimation of the vehicle\'s range, energy consumption was 2.15 kWh/100 km. Based on the experimental data, an advanced simulation model was developed in the MATLAB environment, taking into account acceleration cycles, aerodynamic conditions, rolling resistance and battery characteristics. Validation tests of the developed model were performed, the results indicate a very high compliance with the results of measurements in real conditions. The developed simulation model allows the analysis of the vehicle\'s energy consumption depending on selected design and operation conditions, including total weight, air resistance coefficient, powertrain system efficiency and battery characteristics.
