Comparison of nitrogen oxide exhaust emission results obtained from Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS) using two different methods measurement and a laboratory systems.

Mobile systems for measuring exhaust emissions in accordance with current regulations allow for the measurement of nitrogen oxides using two different methods, one of which uses the chemiluminescence method, and the other the ultraviolet light method. Stationary systems in accordance with the regulation use only the chemiluminescence method. The following article describes the differences in the results of nitrogen oxide emissions from mobile systems compared to measurements from stationary systems in the WLTC test on a chassis dynamometer. The study was carried out at the BOSMAL Institute of Automotive Research and Development using a passenger car equipped with a spark-ignition engine. The results showed that the differences between mobile analyzers for measuring nitrogen oxides using the NDUV method and mobile analyzers CLD are less accurate and the difference reaches several dozen percent compared to stationary analyzers.
