Analysis of Drivers

Vehicle simulators represent advanced research tools that enable the implementation of diverse driving scenarios under controlled conditions. Their use allows for precise evaluation of the impact of driving techniques on fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The aim of this study is to present the measurement capabilities of a driving simulator, to develop relevant indicators and parameters for analyzing driving style, and to assess participants\' driving behavior in the context of applying ecodriving techniques. The study involved 37 drivers of varying ages and levels of driving experience. The task assigned to participants was to complete a predefined urban route using a vehicle simulator. This route included typical elements of urban infrastructure, such as intersections, pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, and variable traffic density. Such a setup enabled not only the assessment of technical driving skills, but also drivers\' habits and reactions in situations that require anticipation and driving strategy—factors crucial from the perspective of ecodriving. Particular attention was given to the phenomenon of maintaining high engine crankshaft speed, which—especially in the case of unnecessary, aggressive driving—leads to increased fuel consumption and elevated pollutant emissions. The analysis of the research results revealed noticeable differences in driving style between more experienced drivers and those with less driving experience. The article highlights the significance of ecodriving as an effective ecological and economic strategy and indicates the need for further research into the optimization of ecodriving techniques and their broader promotion among drivers.
