Thermodynamic aspects of hydrogen and ammonia co-combustion in an engine with a two-stage turbulent jet ignition combustion system

The paper concerns research into the co-combustion of ammonia and hydrogen in a two-stage combustion engine - Turbulent Jet Ignition, with an active pre-combustion chamber. The engine performance was analysed in terms of combustion of hydrogen and two dual component fuels: hydrogen and ammonia. The two-component fuels differ in the percentage content of ammonia and hydrogen. Thermodynamic analyses were used to determine the effect of increasing ammonia content in the fuel on the thermodynamic performance of the engine and the emission of exhaust gas components.
